Jermaine Dupri’s tenure as President of Island Records Urban Music has come to an end. A formal announcement of his departure from the position, which he has held for nearly two years, may come as early as Thursday (Jan 8).
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source close to the situation confirmed that Dupri has in fact been terminated effective immediately. The music business has been rough for Jermaine Dupri lately. The glory days of The Brat, Kris Kross, and Lil Bow Wow seem to be long gone. After producing the Mariah Carey's comeback album, "The Emacipation of Mimi", Dupri's status was at an alltime high. It appeared as if he still possessed the magic to churn out hits and produce chart topping albums, but all thoughts of his greatness disappeared with the dissappointing album that Janet Jackson put out. Between the rumored breakup of him and girlfriend Janet Jackson and being fired, 2009 has already started out rough for Jermaine Dupri. Lets hope things get better......keep ya head up homie
